God’s Agenda or Your Own?

Lately, I have been noticing things about myself that I do not like. The way I get irritable and frustrated when things don’t go the way I think they should go.  When people do things that I don’t agree with  I mumble and complain about it.  You may say, everybody vents and true we do and even though I go to God about most of the things that upset me, my attitude before I go to Him stinks.  More than anything, I desire to be on God’s agenda. I want to do what He asks me to do when He asks me to do it. But sometimes, I get tripped up on my own agenda.

When turns go left, so do I. I don’t like that. I must no matter how things turn out, remain with what the Lord instructed me to do. So many of us, are making plans, and doing so many things but did we even consult the Lord about these things? A good idea isn’t always a God idea. Lately the Lord has been speaking  to me about Matthew 6:33 and Hosea 4:6. But seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness (His way of doing and being right) and all these things shall be added unto you.  My people, perish for lack of knowledge, because they reject knowledge.  Looking at these two scriptures, they are instructions that the Lord has given us. We have to seek first the Kingdom of God because God has all the knowledge. He is omniscient.  We must seek His way of being and doing right. But yet many times we don’t. We assume that God wants us to do certain things because it seems good or sounds good. God didn’t say we have not because we assume not. He said it was because we ask not.  We are not acknowledging Him in all our ways. We quote it, but truthfully many of us aren’t doing it. He is dealing with all of us about this, but not all of us are listening to Him. We want what we want so badly that we confuse it with His voice.  How can we change this? First we have to confess it and ask the Lord to forgive us. For He said in His word that if we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sin and cleanse us of all unrighteous. He never said perpetrate your way to being great. Greatness is only truly found in Him when we realize that we are nothing without Him.  All that we do and are is dependent upon Him only. We can’t brag about who we are, what we have achieved, and what we have because He gave it to us all. So again lets ask ourselves. Are we on God’s agenda or our own?
